“…And now that your rose is in bloom. A light hits the gloom on the gray.”

The biggest news we’ve ever had to report on the blog has come down the pipeline folks. Take a close look at the performance lineup from July 8th at this year’s Ottawa Bluesfest. Look at the Clarington Homes stage but don’t let your eyes deceive you. That’s right our very own Andrew Kekewich and his bandmates in The Wooden Sky are opening for Seal. We’ll be sure Andrew gives a full report on what a Kiss from a Rose truly tastes like after the show.

Hey folks,James Boyd here. If you read our most recent post, you’ve learned I’m a fan of the Ottawa Senators hockey club. Now even I must admit. I’m a little disappointed in my boy Daniel in the clip in the previous post. Not for his behaviour… but for his lack of a shaftID on his stick! And with that segue-way I wanted to let all you out there in tumblrland know about a new business venture that a friend and collaborator of ours has recently started up.

shaftID is a company that produces custom labels for sports gear. It was founded by a hockey dad frustrated with having to keep track of his kid’s equipment in crowded dressing rooms. shaftID nameplates easily identify each player’s gear while showing the other teams that you mean business. Share your team colours and intimidate your opponents with shaftID. http://www.shaftid.com/

Bic Zukko's Forever Almanac: A Chronicle of Reminiscences -

Hey folks,

If you are into any of the following: podcasts, magic, freaky stories or children’s books about half-human/half-horse creatures than boy do I have something to recommend you.

SSP’s friend Daniel Kurland has been producing a podcast about a bizarre book he found called the Forever Almanac, a book handwritten by a mysterious man named Bic Zukko. Each week Daniel reads a new entry from the Almanac and minds are blown in more and more unusual ways.

If you have a taste for the comedic and unusual, give it a listen.

A couple years back I got to visit Tanzania to film a video for a Children’s Charity there called Amani (you can see the video on our site). I’ve continued to support Amani to the extent that I can and this weekend there is a great event being held by high schools students in support of the charity. Grads Go Global is going down on Friday, March 30, 2012 at the Courthouse in downtown Toronto. The event is open to all grade 11 and 12 students and tickets will be available for purchase from ticket sellers on campuses across Toronto or can be purchased online. Check out the event page at the Rock Your Cause website.
